John 3:16 Ministries held its annual Variety Night on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Tickets were $10 each and every ticket stub was entered to win a 1986 Chevy 4×4. The live auction featured a Spartan mower, custom John 3:16 Ministries’ canvases as well as various other items.
The night started with a silent auction and lots of fellow-shipping which was then followed by dinner. The ministry served fish, chicken, and all the trimmings. The ministry also set up a kid’s corner with bounce houses, a face painting booth provided by John 3:17 Ministries, and other games for the little ones to enjoy.
Entertainment was provided by the instructors, residents, and families of John 3:16 Ministries. The entertainment included skits from The Andy Griffith Show, The Carol Burnett, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, and Mama’s Family. Some of the younger residents and instructors also performed a couple of dances that were choreographed by NADT Dance Studio out of Batesville. The girls from John 3:17 Ministries ended the entertainment with a scene from Sister Act.
Smiles from all around could be seen on the faces of those attending the event. The joy that comes from the residents’ families is evident beyond words during these various events that the ministry puts on. Seeing the transformation that has taken place in these men opens the eyes of the families and gives them much needed hope. The broken man that they dropped off at the camp are no longer the same person. Through Jesus Christ working on these men, they’ve been made new.
“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:22-23
