Instructor James Ashley, who has been part of John 3:16 Ministries for almost 10 years, was featured in the Nov. 6 issue of the Batesville Daily Guard.
Ashley was recently issued a pardon by Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson for multiple drug convictions. He had nearly 30 letters of recommendation, from friends and family to the mayor, district judge and the very man who prosecuted him, district attorney Don McSpadden.
“In 2006, the only result I saw was death or prison. I couldn’t see a way out [of drug addiction] until I went to John 3:16,” Ashley said. “Christ has shown me a better way of life – he has shown me a way out of the hole.”
